I learned of Jared through my lactation specialist. At our first visit my son was 3 weeks old, diagnosed with a tongue and lip tie, with trouble passing gas and a right-side torticollis. After our first visit I saw a huge difference in his gas and sleep.

My son was struggling with constipation and general discomfort. After one session with Jared he started having regular bowel movements almost immediately. As a mom, I love having the option of a more natural approach to help my kiddos.

Took my 8 week old to be seen for discomfort, tension, and latching issues. One visit with Jared and she feels more relaxed and happy — she even latched better than before.

Jared is so gentle and attentive when working with my 5 month old. I highly recommend him to anyone needing help with their baby’s torticollis or mobility issues.

Infant bodywork with Jared

Most families arrive on a referral from their lactation consultant, or after a tongue or lip tie release. Gentle craniosacral and fascial work for latching, feeding, reflux, torticollis and the tension that comes with a difficult birth.

Jared trained in infant craniosacral therapy specifically — with Carol Gray, and through the Gillespie Approach — and spent a decade as a registered nurse before that.

One Saturday a month, this is free. Jared runs a free one-hour infant bodywork clinic — open to any baby from birth through new crawlers.

What we do

Four ways we work

Rolfing® Structural Integration at Fitzy Health and Wellness
The core of the practice

Rolfing® Structural Integration

Rolfing is structural bodywork. Rather than easing a tight muscle and sending you home, it works the fascia — the connective tissue wrapping everything — to change how your body is organised against gravity. People come in for a specific pain and leave standing differently.

  • Improves posture and how you carry yourself
  • Relieves chronic pain and long-held tension
  • Restores range of motion that has quietly disappeared
  • Delivered as single sessions or the classic Ten Series
Craniosacral Therapy at Fitzy Health and Wellness
Gentle and precise

Craniosacral Therapy

A light-touch approach working with the tissues around the head, spine and sacrum. Far gentler than Rolfing and often the right starting point when someone is in acute pain, recovering, or simply not ready for deep work.

  • Very light contact — suitable when deep work is not
  • Often used alongside Rolfing rather than instead of it
  • Trained through the Upledger Institute and the Gillespie Approach

Who you’ll see

Ashley and Jared

Both trained at the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute in Boulder. Jared came to it from ten years in nursing.

Ashley Fitzgerald, Rolfer at Fitzy Health and Wellness

Ashley Fitzgerald

Rolfer

Graduated from the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado — her family moved to the area so she could attend. While there she studied under Rolfers taught by Dr. Ida Rolf’s own handpicked instructors, and went on to mentor with Lisa Fairman in Helena, Montana and Neal Anderson in Loveland, Colorado. Those mentorships deepened her understanding of the Rolfing concepts and the Ten Series. A wife and mother of four.

Jared Fitzgerald, Certified Rolfer® · BSN at Fitzy Health and Wellness

Jared Fitzgerald

Certified Rolfer® · BSN

Qualified as a nurse at Appalachian State in 2012 and certified as a Rolfer at the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute in 2021. After burning out as a nurse during COVID he wanted to help people live well rather than just survive — having felt the difference in his own body, moving more easily in his thirties than he had in his twenties. He has trained specifically in infant craniosacral work, which is why families come to him after a frenectomy.

FAQ

Common questions

What is Rolfing?+

Rolfing is a form of structural bodywork that helps improve posture, relieve pain, and enhance movement by manipulating the fascia (connective tissue). It realigns the body to create more ease and balance in daily movement.

How is Rolfing different from massage?+

Massage focuses on relaxation and easing muscle tension. Rolfing is designed to restructure and realign the body, working with deep connective tissue to create longer-term postural and mobility change.

Does Rolfing hurt?+

It can be intense at times, but it should never be unbearable. Practitioners work within your comfort level, and most people describe it as a good release rather than pain.

How many sessions will I need?+

The traditional Rolfing series is ten sessions, each focusing on a different part of the body. Some people see the benefit they were after in fewer, depending on their goals.

Is Rolfing safe for everyone?+

It is safe for most people. If you have osteoporosis, an acute injury, or severe chronic pain, check with your healthcare provider before starting.
